Highlights

Highlights – the Rail Depot at St Phillips Marsh in Bristol is a very busy maintenance shed operating 24/7. This provided many challengers the least of which was to erect a purpose made birdcage scaffold installed at times to suit the Depots workload and time restraints. Parts of the roof contained Blue and Brown asbestos which involved specialist contractors and an air extract system to avoid diesel fumes from dispersing within the roof space and the reduced working area below. Once a suitable area of crash deck was safe to use the rood was stripped and re-sheeted with insulated composite coloured steel panels along with new roof vents and purpose made flashings Some works were carried out at night to enable the depots operations to continue unabated.
St Phillips Station Refurbishment

Gable Projects successfully completed an extensive roof replacement project for the St. Phillips Marsh Railway Depot. The undertaking involved the removal of 5,300m² of the existing roofing system, which included stripping out an Amosite asbestos insulation liner board. This meticulous task required strict adherence to health and safety regulations due to the hazardous nature of asbestos, ensuring the safety of both the workforce and the surrounding environment.

The project showcased Gable Projects' expertise in handling complex industrial roofing works. By employing specialised techniques and equipment, the team ensured the efficient and safe removal of the old materials while minimising disruption to the depot's operations. The completion of the replacement not only enhanced the depot's structural integrity but also improved its overall safety and environmental compliance, providing a long-lasting solution tailored to the needs of the facility.
