Gable Rail were awarded the contract to strip off and replace the existing roof canopy works to Platforms 2/3 & 4. The works involved the removal of the existing asbestos cement roof sheets, glazing ,timber Valance and rainwater goods and were replaced with double sided colour coated aluminium roof sheets and flashings.
Purpose GRP Valance boards re manufactured to replicate the existing size and design of the existing timber valance and the roof was complimented with a MSA Latchways cable fall protection and walkway system to allow future maintenance of the roof.
The station remained open throughout the operations with much of the works being carried out during night time engineering possessions.
