The products used on this project were carefully selected to meet the demanding specifications of a Ministry of Defence (MOD) facility, ensuring performance, security, and longevity. The Euroclad® Elite PLUS 11 System was chosen primarily for its 25-year system guarantee, high thermal efficiency (0.16 W/m²K U-value), and suitability for large-scale commercial and secure government buildings.
The SF500 secret-fix profile was specified due to its clean, modern appearance with concealed fixings, reducing potential points of water ingress and enhancing weather resistance. Manufactured in 0.7mm steel with TATA HPS200 Ultra® coating, the outer sheet provides outstanding corrosion resistance and colour retention — critical for low-maintenance, long-term use.
Dual-layer Knauf FactoryClad 40 insulation (140mm + 280mm) was selected to achieve thermal compliance with current building regulations and to improve energy performance, a key consideration for MOD estates. The Euroclad 250 VCL membrane and associated tapes provide essential vapour control, preventing condensation within the roof build-up.
The Quattro spacer bar system, including 240mm brackets and 3600mm rails, was used to maintain insulation depth, structural integrity, and provide consistent purlin spacing. All fixings, including A2 stainless steel fasteners, were chosen for their strength and corrosion resistance in exposed environments.
Supporting accessories — such as eaves details, ridge fillers, and PV-compatible clamps — ensured a complete, integrated roofing system capable of accommodating future upgrades like solar installation.
In summary, the system components were selected not only for their compliance with MOD and Euroclad specifications, but also for their proven reliability, sustainability credentials (BES 6001 certified), and ability to perform in a high-security, mission-critical setting.
