Highlights

The materials for the newly built Corby Station roof came from the original Prototype Modular building which was erected in D& B’s yard in Romsey. The purpose of which was to allow Network Rail management to view the new concept in a real condition. The first 2 Modular Stations were built in Eastfields & Greenhithe Stations. Due to the Modular nature of the Buildings the Specialist roof panels consisting of Mill Finish Aluminium insulated panels were removed from the Prototype building and stored in a warehouse in Poole before being transported to the New Station at Corby and successfully being re-fixed into the new modular roof. This was so successful that very few adaptations were made to the installation process.
Corby Railway Station Refurbishment

In 2007 we were asked to be involved with the design and installation of a prototype Modular station, which was constructed at Dean & Dyball’s Ringwood base. This was then viewed by a selection of TOCs and relevant Network Rail departments from all over the UK, and during 2007 and 2008 works were then started on the first two stations at Greenhithe and Mitcham Eastfields.  Both projects were completed within a very short time period, with some elements manufactured offsite to enhance the programme.

The subsequent station at Corby, which involved using some of the material taken from the prototype has been awarded The Effective Partnership Award by the Institute of Highways and Transport. This station was completed in record time and on budget.
